AEM – Agenzie Europee Marittime – was founded on December 13, 1979, as a tramp shipping agency. However, by April 1980, it had already handled its first vessel, the “Peter Wash” of Marseille Fret, bound for the French Antilles. In 1981, the agency expanded its operations with the addition of Surinam Line, offering regular services for general cargo and container shipments.
AEM strengthened its position by becoming the agent for UAL in Canada, providing regular services from Genoa and Livorno. In 1988, AEM was appointed as General Agent for Paquet, handling the two passenger ships Mermoz and Ocean Princess in all Italian ports. This marked the completion of a comprehensive range of maritime services, including crewing, bunkering, and chartering.
In 1992, AEM acquired its own headquarters in via Ceccardi, in the heart of Genoa, establishing a prestigious office. In 1995, to enhance its presence in the Port of Livorno, the company opened a branch there. Representing various shipowners, AEM can proudly say that it serves all continents!
